Accessibility Statement

Infidel Awareness Month is a public education initiative, and public education only works when everyone can reach it. We are committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, magnification, keyboard-only navigation, or who need larger text and stronger contrast.

This site is built to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. Accessibility is treated as ongoing work rather than a finished task: as new material is published each day of the campaign, it is reviewed against the same standard.

A round accessibility button sits near the lower-left corner of every page, marked with the campaign torch. Select it — or reach it with the keyboard and press Enter — to open a panel of display adjustments.

The button can be moved. Press and hold it, then drag it anywhere on the screen; it settles against the nearest side edge so it never covers the text you are reading, and it stays where you left it on your next visit. When the button has keyboard focus, the arrow keys move it: up and down to reposition, left and right to switch sides.

Your choices are stored in your own browser only. Nothing about them is sent to us or to anyone else.

• Text size — three progressively larger steps above the site default.
• High contrast — a stronger, plainer palette behind all text.
• Highlight links — every link underlined and outlined so it is unmistakable.
• Stop animation — removes scene transitions, scrolling logo tracks, and other motion.
• Readable font — replaces the display serif with a plain sans-serif face throughout.
• Large cursor — an enlarged, high-visibility pointer.
• Reset all — returns the site to its default presentation.

Beyond the adjustment panel, the site is built with:

• A “skip to content” link as the first item on every page
• Full keyboard operation of menus, dialogs, search, and forms, with a visible focus outline
• Descriptive text alternatives for images, and empty alternatives for purely decorative imagery
• Semantic headings, landmarks, and lists so screen readers can navigate structurally
• Respect for your operating system’s “reduce motion” setting, whether or not you use our panel
• Form fields with associated labels and errors announced to assistive technology

Some material on this site is hosted by third parties and its accessibility is outside our control:

• Embedded video players (YouTube, Vimeo) and social embeds (Instagram, X, Facebook) use the provider’s own interface and captioning
• Some archival documents, photographs, and historical footage carry limited or no captioning in their original form
• Externally linked research and news articles follow their publisher’s own accessibility practices

Where an embedded item is central to a day’s content, we aim to provide an accessible alternative — the written full text of that day is always available on its reading page.
