What they bring
Born and raised in Iran, she fled religious harassment in 1989 and founded the Iraqi Christian Relief Council in 2007. Twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, she is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Why they're here
She keeps the month tied to living communities: Assyrians and other Christians in Iraq, Syria and Iran whose survival is a matter of food, shelter and legal protection as much as argument. Through Assyrians Against Anti-Semitism she has spent years building ties between Middle Eastern Christians and Jewish communities, which is the coalition this month is trying to make ordinary.
