Sudan is home to one of the deadliest, least-covered fronts of jihadist and Islamist violence anywhere in the world today. Entire communities have been displaced or killed in numbers that would dominate headlines almost anywhere else — and yet the conflict receives only a fraction of the sustained international attention given to comparable crises elsewhere. Even Arab media hardly cover Sudan and when it does it overlook the Islamists' role in it.

For example, since 2023, Arab attacks on black infidels began a new round of mass slaughters, including the deliberate slaughter of tens of thousands of Masalit civilians. In all, since 2023 some 150,000 Sudanese have been killed and 14 million displaced. The United Nations has explicitly and repeatedly declared Sudan as the world's largest and most severe humanitarian crisis, yet it hardly receives meaningful coverage.

This day is dedicated to making that violence visible: who is being targeted, by whom, and why a crisis of this scale has stayed so far outside the mainstream conversation.
